52 Fastest Cars in the World: Ultimate Guide

It's a well-known fact - man as a species has a need for speed. Since we figured out the wheel, we've been looking for ways to move from one point to another as quickly as possible. Then, of course, there's the thrill factor. As technology advances, so do the possibilities for creating the fastest production cars that we all can enjoy!

We have acknowledged this inherent desire and are perhaps even fostering it a bit with our collection of 52 of the world's fastest cars. Why stop at the top 10 fastest cars in the world? That doesn't really offer much variety!

So what is the fastest car in the world? How about the world's fastest street car? From American to Eastern European builds, we bring you some of the hottest speed demons to ever hit the streets (or track!).

  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 2.4 seconds

There comes a point when all good things must come to an end and the production of the Ferrari Enzo is no exception to this rule. It isn't necessarily a bad thing as it would soon make way for the extraordinary Ferrari LaFerrari. A hybrid sports car that Ferrari produced from 2013 until 2015 (only 500 units were made). This car is insane as it can reach a top speed of 220 mph with its 6.3 L F140FE V12 engine. The design of the car is also something new for Ferrari as it is the first car since 1973 to be designed by a different company other than Pininfarina. The Bristol Fighter T is a turbocharged version of the Bristol Fighter. It would have had a modified version of the Chrysler V10 engine and would have reached a top speed of 270 mph, but would be limited to 225 mph by the computing system. We say it would have as Bristol Cars stated that the Bristol Fighter T was never produced. It would have been nice to see a car more powerful than the Bugattie Veyron but alas, it is only a fairytale. Bristol Cars still produced the less powerful Bristol Fighter but only made 13 units.

35. Noble M600

Noble M600

  • Top Speed: 225 mph

While most of the cars on this list go for millions and millions of dollars (US), the Noble M600 only goes for $450,000 (which isn't exactly cheap, but compared to the other cars it isn't so bad). Now, if you have in enough money in your budget for this car, then you should know that it features a 4.4 L Volvo/Yamaha B8444S V8 (twin t/c petrol) engine. The Ferrari P4/5 was originally going to be an Enzo Ferrari but the owner, James Glickenhaus, preferred the styling of 1960's race cars. He asked Ferrari to make a custom model and thus explains how the P4/5 was created. The design was actually made by James Glickenhaus himself on an ipod nano and was sent to Pininfarina who then made the car a reality. The funny thing is that the design actually makes the car more aerodynamic than the original Ferrari Enzo, which makes it faster and more stable at higher speeds. Too bad that there is only one in existence and it resides in New York.

What sets the Pagani Huayra apart from other supercars is that it has active aerodynamics. Koenigsegg Agera R

  • Top Speed: 260 mph
  • Horsepower: 1140 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 2.7 seconds

The Koenigsegg Agera R made its much awaited debut in 2011. It is a machine that makes many cars on this list seem slow. The Koenigsegg Agera R broke six world records when it was tested at Angelholm. It is praised for its braking performance as it can slow down from 189 mph to 0 without having to hold on to the wheel. Does this also mean it is the fastest 0 - 60 car? Not quite, but oh, so close!

8. Koenigsegg Agera S

koenigsegg agera s

  • Top Speed: 261 mph
  • Horsepower:
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in

The Koenigsegg Agera S was specifically designed for markets that did not have E85 biofuel. It was recently reported that a Koenigsegg Agera S was sold in Singapore for an estimated $5.3 million (US). It is the only Agera model to be sold in Malaysia as they lack E85 biofuel. Just because it can run without E85 biofuel does not mean that it can't, if anything, it usually has higher performance times when it does use E85 biofuel.

7. Barabus TKR

Brabus TKR

  • Top Speed: 269 mph
  • Horsepower: 1005 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 1.67 seconds

It takes inspiration from the Saleen S7 and the Pagani Zonda and was designed to compete with the Bugatti Veyron. We are talking about the Barabus TKR, a British supercar developed by Barabus Sportscar Ltd. The concept was first proposed in 1996 but it was not made into reality until 2006 at the British International Motor Show in London. It features a 6.0 L V8 Bi-Turbo engine with a massive power of 1005 horsepower.

6. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

  • Top Speed: 269.86 mph
  • Horsepower: 1200 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 2.4 seconds

Bugatti has certainly made a name for itself when it comes to making supercars. So much that everyone tries to create cars that can beat the Bugatti Veyron. It is definitely a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to the Super Sport. It features an 8.0 L V16 engine with a massive 1200 hp. Too bad that only 30 units will be made.

5. Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Venom GT

  • Top Speed: 270.49 mph
  • Horsepower: 1451 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 2.5 mph

The Hennessey Venom GT is a car that takes the look of another car. If seen it will probably fool you into thinking it is a Lotus Exige. In 2013, The Venom GT set a Guinness World record for fastest production car. It features a 7.0 L LSX Twin Turbocharged V8 engine that can reach a top speed of up to 270.49 mph.

4. Koenigsegg One:1

Koenigsegg One1

  • Top Speed: 273 mph
  • Horsepower: 1161 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 in 2.5 seconds

In the whole world, there are only six Koenigsegg One:1 and they have already been sold. If you are looking to own one, then good luck as they will no longer be produced. The name comes from the power to weight ratio (1360 PS to 1360 kg) which is 1PS to 1 kg. It features a 5.0 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine which can make the car reach a top speed of 273 mph.

3. Koenigsegg Agera R

Koenigsegg Agera R

  • Top Speed: 273 mph
  • Horsepower: 1140 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 2.9 seconds

Breaking world records is no problem for this car, as it broke 6 world speed records for a production car. It features a 5.0L V8, dual Turbo engine than can send the car up to a top speed of 273 mph. You won't even have time to think when you are going that fast, but it will be well worth it. The disheartening news is that there will only be 25 units produced.

2. SSC Tuatara

SSC Tuatara

  • Top Speed: 276 mph
  • Horsepower: 1350 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 in 2.3 seconds

The SSC Tuatara is SSC's answer to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. With a 6.9 L twin-turbo V8 engine that produces up to 1350 horsepower, it is not surprising that it is number two on the list. The Tuatara can reach a top speed of 276 mph as it is mostly made up of carbon fiber (including the wheels). It is the fastest car 0 - 60 around right now. It seems as though SSC did not like the Bugatti Veyron taking its record and came back with the Tuatara, which is overall a better performing car than the Veyron. Even better? It is the fastest street legal car in the world. How many truly fantastic machines can claim they are not only gorgeous but also the fastest street car in the world 2015?

1. Transtar Dagger GT

Transtar Dagger GT

  • Top Speed: 315 mph
  • Horsepower: 2000 hp
  • Acceleration: 0 - 60 mph in 1 second

The fastest car in the world is still in development and will be known as the Transtar Dagger GT. It will reach record breaking speeds of up to 315 mph for a production car and will be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in a mere second. This will make it the fastest accelerating car. All of this will be possible with its 10.35 L twin-turbo V8 engine, with the added benefit of having the title of world's fastest street legal car. This monster is Transtar's answer to the Veyron, but not only was it intended to beat the Veyron's records, it wants to destroy them completely. When the Transtar Dagger GT is released, expect the bar to be set a new standard.
